Chinese Nick Interview

What is the Chinese major like at Notre Dame?

"Being a Chinese major allows you to study the language in the context of the culture and the thought that built that language," said Notre Dame student Greta Rauch.

In Chinese, you'll take classes like:

  • Chinese Ways of Thought
  • Literary Dreams
  • Modern China on Screen
  • Popular Culture
  • An Asia of Global Affairs
  • Chinese Economy
  • Early Chinese Empires
  • Politics and Performance

Chinese majors pursue their passions while developing skills such as language proficiency, critical thinking, communication, and empathy.

After graduation, students go on to top graduate and professional schools and work in a variety of professions and industries. First jobs include:

  • Technology advisor, Ernst & Young
  • Teacher, EF Education First China
  • Management associate, MGM Resorts
  • Associate, Boston Consulting Group
  • Intern, The White House

“I'm just certain Chinese is going to help regardless of what I do," said Chinese major Nick Abouchedid. "Whether I go into business, academia, journalism, teaching, or medicine, these four years are going to be well spent."
