Notre Dame Global's International Student and Scholar Affairs team joined forces with this year's International Student Ambassadors to welcome over 260 students from 49 countries to campus. Notre Dame Jerusalem led the Reimagining Business Excellence conference on campus, gathering leaders who care for the larger Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to discuss social entrepreneurship and learn from each other's expertise. The Mendoza College of Business launched its inaugural Global EMBA program in Dublin. Thirty engineering students from Tsinghua University in Beijing danced Irish jigs and learned the art of hurling alongside colleagues at Notre Dame Kylemore, while NDBridge students in Santiago presented outcomes from an 8-week immersive experience working with children and adolescents in foster care.

Kylemore

Notre Dame Kylemore, in partnership with Notre Dame Beijing and Notre Dame Dublin, welcomes a group of 30 engineering students from Tsinghua University in Beijing – one of the world’s top ranked universities.

Notre Dame Kylemore, in partnership with Notre Dame Beijing and Notre Dame Dublin, welcomed a group of 30 engineering students from Tsinghua University in Beijing—one of the world’s top-ranked universities. The group spent time in both Dublin and Kylemore immersed in various aspects of Irish culture, which included visits to Teach Ceoil, a music workshop where they danced Irish jigs as well as a trip to Glassilaun Beach where they learned to play hurling from Gaelic sports legend Alan Kerins.


Mexico

15 Pre-med students of the Puebla pre-med prorgram have an excursion at Xico, Veracruz.

Led by Notre Dame Mexico and longtime partner UPAEP, fifteen Notre Dame pre-med students began the International Pre-Med Program in August. Now in its fourteenth year, the program is designed for international students who wish to learn about the health system in Mexico and experience first-hand what it is like to be a doctor outside of the U.S.


Nairobi

Eck Institute for Global Health signing MoU in Nairobi - August 2024

Jackline Oluoch-Aridi, director of Notre Dame Nairobi, helped facilitate the signing of an MOU between the Harper Cancer Research Institute, Eck Institute for Global Health, and the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching & Referral Hospital in Kisumu, Kenya. This MOU signals the start of clinical research focused on breast and cervical cancer including genomic, epidemiological and community health studies that will be led by the Eck Institute in collaboration with physician-scientists at the hospital.


Rome

As the US elections draw near, Notre Dame Rome decided to host two voting info sessions organized by the American Embassy to ensure that our students may exercise their voting rights and make their voices heard, even from abroad.

Santiago

ND Bridge students in Santiago - August 2024

In partnership with the Center for Social Concerns, Notre Dame Santiago hosted seven students for eight weeks as part of NDBridge. Four students worked at Parroquia Inmeculada Concepción, helping immigrants from Haiti obtain legal documents, apply for jobs, and find housing. Three other students worked with children and adolescents in foster care through partner organization Fundamor.


São Paulo

Four professors from PUC-SP attended the conference in person, with one participating online, presenting their research on this important topic. The event was incredibly inspiring, bringing together over 50 participants from 10 Catholic universities across various countries, including Ukraine, Brazil, Chile, the USA, Australia, Taiwan, Kenya, the UK, Germany, and Bethlehem.

Notre Dame São Paulo participated in the Consortium of Catholic Universities Conference hosted by Notre Dame Rome. The conference was themed, "Catholic Universities: Standing in Solidarity with Partners and Peers in Conflict Zones," and was organized by the University of Notre Dame. Four professors from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo presented their research on the topic. The event brought together over 50 participants from 10 Catholic universities around the globe, including Australia, Bethlehem, Brazil, Chile, Germany, Kenya, Ukraine, Taiwan, the United Kingdom and the United States.


Beijing

The Shanghai Alumni Club organized a send-off event for incoming students from Shanghai and the surrounding region. Alumni, their family, and incoming students gathered at La Fonte cafe and watched the documentary of Father Hesburgh, after which they had a fun little chat. Go Irish!

The alumni club was joined by students and their families who gathered to watch Hesburgh, the 2018 documentary film that follows the life of Fr. Hesburgh.


Dublin

Mendoza College of Business launches its inaugural Global EMBA programme in Dublin.

Notre Dame Dublin welcomed 65 Global Executive MBA (EMBA) students to the city, where the Mendoza College of Business launched its inaugural Global EMBA program. The students explored the global challenges of our interconnected world of business and connected with experienced classmates, faculty, Irish business people, alumni and friends. A highlight of the weeklong program was a fireside chat and dinner with Martin Naughton and his son Fergal.


Hong Kong

ND Families visit the HK Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

Members of the Notre Dame global network joined Catherine Leung, director of Notre Dame Hong Kong, for a tour of "Asia's World City" and attended Sunday mass at the Hong Kong Catholic Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

Along with our International Student and Scholar Affairs (ISSA) team, this year's International Student Ambassadors welcomed over 260 students (and their families) from 49 countries to Notre Dame during International Student Orientation.


Global Engagement Programs

Students in our International Summer Undergraduate Research Experience program stepped away from their labs for an evening to attend a South Bend Cubs baseball game. In addition to working on cutting-edge research with Notre Dame faculty, iSURE students immerse themselves in American culture and the American undergraduate experience during their eight weeks on campus.

Jerusalem

In collaboration with faculty from the Mendoza College of Business and the Keough School of Global Affairs, Notre Dame Jerusalem led the second annual Reimagining Business Excellence conference, convening leaders and rising stars who care for the larger Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region at Notre Dame. In addition to considering the theme of social entrepreneurship and learning from each other's expertise, the group collaborated with the larger Notre Dame community through a panel discussion, a visit to the IDEA Center, and intentional engagement with deans and senior leadership on campus.

Seven Sisters - August 2024 - London Photo Essay

During Welcome Week, our new Notre Dame London fall cohort visited the Seven Sisters, a famous series of chalk sea cliffs in the South Downs, on the coast of the English Channel.
