International Education Week (IEW) is an exciting opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. A joint initiative of the US Department of Education and the US Department of State, IEW supports their efforts to promote programs that prepare students for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences.
This year, Notre Dame Global is proud to partner with campus units, student organizations, and NDG global locations to “build bridges of understanding” throughout the week through various events. From an International Scholar Coffee Hour to a name pronunciation workshop to a Global Engagement Symposium, the week is filled with ways to broaden your cultural perspectives through sharing with and learning from others.
“This year’s theme was informed by Father Bob’s call in his inauguration address to build bridges by deepening our engagement with the world, and so in addition to the many events happening during IEW, we asked our Notre Dame community around the world and those on campus who are from outside the U.S. how can we better understand—what texts and conversations can we engage with that can help deepen that engagement and build that bridge—so we are more curious and more willing to decenter our own perspectives and certainties,” Executive Director of International Student and Scholar Affairs Leah Zimmer shares.
