The highly anticipated Asian Allure: The Mystery of Love returns to Washington Hall on November 1st and 2nd from 7 to 9 PM, promising an unforgettable and unique cultural experience. This annual event, hosted by the Asian American Association (AAA), is more than just a showcase—it's a one-of-a-kind opportunity to immerse yourself in the vibrant and diverse cultures of Asia, brought to life through student talent. It's a celebration of the rich traditions, performances, and stories from Asia, and we welcome all students and community members interested in cultural events and Asian heritage to join us.
This year’s theme, "The Mystery of Love," directed by Junior Jonah Tran, explores the different facets of love through four captivating chapters: Friendship, Romance, Kinship, and Unconditional Love. Each chapter tells a unique story, yet the same profound truth connects all: there is a mystery that unites us all. Jonah quotes, “The theme is inspired by (his) Catholic faith, specifically the mystery of the Incarnation, that is, how Jesus entered into the human experience to demonstrate the highest form of self-giving love. (His) Catholic identity is inseparable from (his) Vietnamese identity, so (he endeavors) to explicate how the Asian American experience and Asian cultural expressions reveal insights about this concept of love. This year’s Asian Allure is timely. Amid a climate of violence and a culture of hate and disrespect for human life, it is ever more necessary to reflect on the love that bears all wrongs and unites us all. The message of Asian Allure: The Mystery of Love is that the love that we have for one another and ourselves is ultimately what makes us endure as an Asian community, not necessarily our language, cultural preservation, or shared history.” As we delve into the complexities of human connection, the showcase promises to take you on a journey that will leave you inspired, touched, and entertained.

His participation has already sparked a lot of interest, so make sure to secure your tickets early! Tickets are available for just $ 5 at the LaFortune Student Center at the StaND. If you miss the pre-sale, don’t worry—you can still purchase them for $ 7 at the door. And that's not all! After each performance, ticket holders will be treated to an exclusive reception at the Center for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion on the second floor of LaFortune, featuring delicious Asian cuisine.
Sponsored by the Liu Institute for Asia and Asian Studies, Asian Allure has grown into a beloved tradition at Notre Dame, bringing together diverse student groups and performers to celebrate the beauty of Asian music, dance, and culture. From traditional dances to modern performances, this two-day event offers a rich and diverse range of performances, ensuring there's something for everyone and providing a vibrant display of the rich cultural heritage of Asia. The following AAPI clubs are being represented: the Chinese Cultural Society, the Filipino American Student Association, the Vietnamese Student Association, the Taiwanese Student Association (their first time performing in Asian Allure), the South Asian Student Association, Hawaii Club, St. Mary’s AAPI (a new club that is also performing for their first time), the Korean Student Association, AsceND, and Japan Club, and they consist of over 170 students involved for this year’s show.
