Celebrate Asia

-

Location: LaFortune Ballroom

“Celebrate Asia” is the department’s first-ever cross cultural extracurricular activity, involving students from all three language programs, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. It combines the celebrations of three major East Asian festivals, all in autumn: Chinese Moon Festival (also known as Mid-autumn Festival), a festival for harvest and family reunion, Japanese Tanabata, an East Asian equivalent of the Valentine’s day in the West, and the Korean Alphabet Day (also known as Hangul Day), the commemorative day marking the invention of hangul, the system of Korean alphabets.  "Celebrate Asia" is a great occasion for students from three East Asian language programs to communicate with each other and to share a multicultural experience.  The event is to be held on Saturday, November 12 from 2-4 pm in the LaFortune Ballroom.
