Kellogg Asia Working Group Meeting

Location: Hesburgh Center C104/105

The Kellogg Asia Working Group is open to faculty and students interested in discussing topics related to Asia. The plan for each meeting is to workshop two papers from faculty or graduate students. Any sort of Asia-related materials that you would like to receive feedback on is welcome — articles, book chapters, proposals, and conference presentations are all viable candidates. EALC Spring Festival Celebration

Location: LaFortune Ballroom

The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures will hold a Spring Festival Celebration on Tuesday, February 17th, 2015 at 5:00pm in LaFortune Ballroom. The celebration offers students a platform to know about Chinese culture and making connection with Chinese international students on campus. During this event, students will perform Chinese skit, tongue twisters, songs and dances to show their talents cultivated in Chinese. A traditional lion dance will also be presented that day. Students will also be invited and challenged to play games in Chinese. This event is sponsored by Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures, Office for Undergraduate Studies in College of Arts and Letters, the Liu Institute for Asia and Asian Studies, and Center for the Study of Languages and Cultures. 2015 Chinese New Year Festival: Performance

The Notre Dame Chinese Student & Scholar Association presents the 2015 Chinese New Year Festival, open to members of the Notre Dame and South Bend community interested in learning about and experiencing Chinese culture. The Performance will take place on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at 7pm in Washington Hall, featuring song, dance, and instrumental performances by students and community members. The Chinese New Year Buffet will take place on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 11:30am in LaFortune Ballroom. Admission to the Buffet costs $5 for adults, $3 for children (free for children under 10).…

Lecture: Chun-yen Chen: "Old and New Media, and the Thing Called Poetry In Quasi-cosmopolitan Taiwan"

Chun-yen Chen, Associate Professor of English at National Taiwan Normal University, will be introducing the culture and literature of Taiwan in a lecture entitled “Old and New Media, and the Thing Called Poetry In Quasi-cosmopolitan Taiwan”. The lecture will take place on Thursday, February 19, 2015 from 12:30-2pm in 119 O’Shaughnessy Hall, and it is sponsored by the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures, the Liu Institute for Asia and Asian Studies, and the Center for the Study of Languages and Cultures.
